The GST Point-in-Time Service has been updated to include the Treasury Laws Amendment (Australian Consumer Law Review) Act 2018 (Cth) (Act 132 of 2018) and the Treasury Laws Amendment (Gift Cards) Act 2018 (Cth) (Act 133 of 2018).

Act 132 of 2018

This Act makes a number of amendments to give effect to a number of proposals suggested in the Australian Consumer Law Review – Final Report (ACL Review Final Report).  The amendments clarify and strengthen consumer protections relating to consumer guarantees, voluntary recalls, unsolicited consumer agreements, product safety, false billing, unconscionable conduct, pricing and unfair contract terms.

Act 133 of 2018

The Act amends the Australian Consumer Law to introduce a national regime that requires gift cards have a minimum three year expiry period and disclosure of expiry information on gift cards and bans certain post-supply fees.

The amendments made by these Acts have been updated in the Point-in-Time GST Service current to 14 November 2018. (NB: Subscription required).
