WA - Calls for Oil Spill Report to be released

Conservationists are repeating calls for the release of the Federal Government's report into Australia's largest oil spill.

It has been a year since the spill from the Montara Well off WA's north-west coast was brought under control, and despite receiving the report in June, the Government is yet to release it.

The Federal Government has said the report will be released by the end of the year and that legal issues needed consideration.

It has been suggested that the Government should not be releasing new petroleum exploration licences until the report is made public.

The Federal Government has always said that it is committed to learning the lessons of Montara and the Gulf of Mexico.
