A new resource to protect the intellectual property (IP) of Indigenous Australians is being launched today.

A project known as Dream Shield has been launched to help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders to profit from their ideas and traditional knowledge.

It is about providing a guide for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people going into business around their rights in protecting their trademarks, their patents, their designs and copyright.

There are countless examples of people who have been ripped off in the past, whether that is an artist who has had their painting ripped off and printed onto carpet without their knowledge or communities who have traditional knowledge ripped off them and used by other companies.
