A Northern Territory Supreme Court justice has withdrawn contempt of court charges against a publisher owned by News Limited.

The Centralian Advocate last week published an article about the trial of two people accused of murder.

The article incorrectly stated one of the jurors was related to the accused.

In dropping the charge, Justice John Reeves said he took into account the immediate admission of the mistake and apology by the paper's editor.
