Commonwealth Spring Redundant Legislation Repeal Day

The Commonwealth Government has again reviewed a wide range of legislation in line with their Red Tape Repeal announcements. On Wednesday 22 October, following a statement by the Prime Minister, the Government introduced legislation and tabled multiple instruments to repeal nearly 1,000 pieces and more than 7,200 pages of legislation and regulation.

These bills were introduced on the afternoon of 22 October 2014 and were notified to TimeBase LawOne subscribers in the email alerts which went out that afternoon.

The bills included:

  • Acts and Instruments (Framework Reform) Bill 2014
  • Amending Acts 1970 to 1979 Repeal Bill 2014
  • Broadcasting and Other Legislation Amendment (Deregulation) Bill 2014
  • Corporations Legislation Amendment (Deregulatory and Other Measures) Bill 2014
  • Omnibus Repeal Day (Spring 2014) Bill 2014

  • Statute Law Revision Bill (No. 2) 2014 
  • Telecommunications Legislation Amendment (Deregulation) Bill 2014
  • Treasury Legislation Amendment (Repeal Day) Bill 2014

Additionally, the Federal Government also released the Spent and Redundant Instruments Repeal Regulation 2014 (No. 2) (No. 146 of 2014) which repeals 279 spent or redundant legislative instruments and two spent legislative provisions. This was notified on the FRLI Register on 16 October 2014 and was incorporated into TimeBase LawOne.
