Thursday 4 May 2017 @ 12.19 p.m.

The Employment Point-in-Time Service has been updated to include the amendments contained in the:

  • Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Amendment Regulations 2017; and

  • New commencements for the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Amendment Act 2016 (79 of 2016).

Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Amendment Regulations 2017

These regulations amend the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Regulations 2009 to deal with a number of consequential matters relating to the amendment of the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009 by the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Amendment Act 2016.

Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Amendment Act 2016

The Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Amendment Act 2014 (the Act) will amend the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009 (RO Act) and the Fair Work Act 2009 to ensure better governance of registered organisations. Recent examples of financial misconduct within registered organisations have demonstrated that the existing regulatory framework is not sufficient to provide members of registered organisations with confidence that the management of registered organisations is accountable and transparent and that their membership contributions are being used for proper purposes.

In addressing these issues, the amendments will improve the governance and financial transparency of registered organisations and provide an appropriately empowered and independent regulator that will ensure compliance with the RO Act by registered organisations, branches of registered organisations and their officers.

New commencements notified on 24 April 2017 allow for the commencements of Schedules 1 and 2.

The amendments made by this Regulation and Act have been updated in the Point-in-Time Employment Service current to 4 May 2017. (NB: Subscription required).
