Employment Point-in-Time Service Updates

Friday 5 April 2024 @ 12.30 p.m.

The Employment Point-in-Time Service has been updated to include the Fair Work Commission Rules 2024 (Cth).

Fair Work Commission Rules 2024

These Rules repeal and replace the previous procedural rules of the Fair Work Commission (FWC), the Fair Work Commission Rules 2013 (Cth) (the 2013 Rules).

The Rules regulate the practice and procedure of the FWC and, in doing so, assist the FWC to perform its functions and exercise its powers in accordance with section 577 of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth). Section 577 requires the FWC to perform its functions and exercise its powers in a manner that is:

  • fair and just;
  • quick, informal and avoids unnecessary technicalities;
  • open and transparent; and
  • promotes harmonious and cooperative workplace relations.

The Rules largely remake the 2013 Rules, but with changes to update them and improve their usability. Some old rules have been amended and new rules introduced to accommodate changes made by the Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Secure Jobs, Better Pay) Act 2022 (Cth) to the FWC’s functions.

These amendments have been updated in the Point-in-Time Employment Service current to 5 April 2024. (Note: Subscription required).
