Fair Work Australia Busier than Ever!

Fair Work Australia has released its latest annual report and has revealed it has been overwhelmed with claims since the introduction of the new industrial relations laws last year.

The Fair Work Act reintroduced the power of workers to claim unfair dismissal when fired by their employers. In NSW there were 3765 lodgments about dismissals and disputes in the last financial year alone, second only to Victoria which had 4213.

According to Fair Work Australia, this is almost an 153% increase in claims over the last year.

Do you think this is a symptom of an unhealthy workplace culture? Or is the new legislation just making more actions able to be brought before Fair Work Australia?
