ACT Breaches of Fair Work Act - Underpaid Workers Reimbursed

Monday 17 January 2011 @ 10.04 a.m. | Industrial Law

In a recent action by the Fair Work Ombudsman in the ACT, underpaid workers have been reimbursed almost $65,000 in unpaid minimum wage and penalty rates.

According to the office of the Fair Work Ombudsman, as long as the employers co-operated with the investigation, no further action will be taken.

Do you think this is a symptom of the new Fair Work Act provisions being too complex? Or do you think this has always been happening and it is only now with the new provisions that it is being finally picked up and acted upon?
