QANTAS Pilots challenge Fair Work

The long-haul pilots' union began its case today before the Federal Court in Sydney against Fair Work's termination of the industrial action. This case comes in the aftermath of the airline's controversial grounding of its entire fleet
last year.

The pilots believe the Fair Work ''exceeded its power'' when it included pilots in the ban on industrial disputes between Qantas and two other unions who represent licensed aircraft engineers and ground crews.

Qantas spokeswoman Olivia Wirth stated however that, "The decision by Fair Work Australia brought certainty to Australian travellers and brought to an end the damaging union campaign(s)".
