Juvenile custodial officers seek amendment to law

Juvenile custodial officers in Perth have called for the protection of Western Australia's controversial mandatory sentencing laws after being assaulted by detainees.

Officers who work at the Banskia Hill Detention Centre in Canning Vale and Rangeview Remand Centre in Murdoch, both in Perth's southern suburbs, on Tuesday asked WA's Corrective Services Minister Terry Redman to amend the legislation as a high priority.
