Corporations Point-in-Time Service Updates

The Corporations Service has been updated to include the Treasury Laws Amendment (Financial Reporting System Reform) Act 2026 (Cth) (Act No 61 of 2026) and the Treasury Laws Amendment (Business Registries Stabilisation and Uplift) Regulations 2026 (Cth).

Act 61 of 2026

This Act amends the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act 2001 (Cth) to combine the core functions and powers of the Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB), the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (AUASB), their respective offices, and the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) into a single entity, the External Reporting Australia.

The External Reporting Australia’s responsibilities would include performing standard-setting functions for accounting, auditing and assurance, or sustainability standards. External Reporting Australia would have a Governing Council, with members of the Governing Council to be appointed by the Minister.

The Act also makes consequential amendments to various other Acts, including amendments to replace references to the abolished or renamed bodies, insert a range of definitions to support the operation of External Reporting Australia, and repeal any obsolete definitions.

Treasury Laws Amendment (Business Registries Stabilisation and Uplift) Regulations 2026

These Regulations aim to support various amendments made by the Treasury Laws Amendment (Business Registries Stabilisation and Uplift) Act 2026 (Cth) (the Business Registries Act). The Regulations support the Business Registries Act by:

• ensuring ASIC can obtain Director IDs and full address information through a company’s annual reviews and returns of particulars;
• enabling ASIC to publish Director ID information on the Companies Register;
• clarifying that ASIC can publish officers’ other personal details on its registers;
• making consequential adjustments to certain delegation settings.
