Many small businesses ignore the 'net

The internet may be a key to survival, but two-thirds of businesses say they don't even have a website.

That's despite half the businesses surveyed conceding they know a website is crucial.

The MYOB Business Monitor found that three in 10 businesses with a website increased revenue in the past year, compared with 23 per cent without a website.

MYOB chief executive officer Tim Reed said the results of the survey of 1000 small and medium businesses were a surprise, given the growing trend for people to shop online.
