An ex-staffer of former federal parliamentary speaker Peter Slipper was denied procedural fairness when his sexual harassment claim was dismissed, a court has heard, reports abc.net.au.

James Ashby is challenging a Federal Court decision from December 2012 to dismiss the case he brought against Mr Slipper.

Mr Ashby and his lawyer are appealing against the scathing judgement, which labelled the claim as a political attack and an abuse of process.

At the time, Federal Court Justice Rares also said Mr Ashby and his solicitor Michael Harmer made allegations in their original statement of claim that Mr Slipper had misused taxi vouchers simply to damage his reputation.
