The recently released Fair Work Commissions Hearings App is suitable for all smart phones and tablets and enables users to view and search hearing lists up to seven days in advance of a hearing. The availabilty of the App was announced by Fair Work Commission President, Justice Iain Ross, on 3 July 2013. The App is heralded as the Commission’s "first smart phone app, providing users with quick and easy access to the Commission’s daily hearing lists".

The App is designed to assit the Fair Work Commission and practitioners in keeping track of the Commission's busy hearings lists where currently the Commission conducts hearings and conferences from Monday to Friday at its premises in each Australian capital city. Hearings which if required, may also be held outside of normal office hours, on public holidays, in regional centres and/or in a workplace and even conducted by telephone or video-conference. Daily hearings and conferences lists for the next working day are posted at about 4.30 pm EST each day and late listings appear at the bottom of the relevant list and may be posted on the day of hearing.

Justice Ross indicating that more developments will follow is also quoted as saying that: "the development of the app, which is one of the 25 projects outlined in the Future Directions strategy, would provide all users with greater access to information about Commission hearings".

The app was developed in-house and is just one way in which the Commission says it is working to provide easier, more efficient access to justice by making it more convenient to know where and when a hearing are taking place.

You can get the hearing list app from the Commission’s here.
