Unborn Child Deaths: NSW Laws Reviewed

A review by retired Supreme Court judge Michael Campbell has found that the current criminal laws and those laws governing the deaths of unborn children in NSW, do not need to be updated.

Campbell has suggested however, a form of Compensation for women who lose their unborn child due to criminal acts.

The SMH Herald quoted Campbell as saying:

"I recommend that the Department of Justice and Attorney General together with the Motor Accidents Authority consider a legislative, or administrative, scheme to provide for the payment of the funeral costs of a stillborn child"
