Law Council Agrees: Anti-bikie laws unconstitutional

The SMH has reported that the Law Council of Australia has concerns about the Anti-bikie laws sweeping across Australia, as reported in previous TimeBase blogpost.

The concerns come after legislation in South Australia, the Serious and Organised Crime Act, went against the independence and integrity of the courts.

Glenn Ferguson, Law Council President said legislation should not diminish the rights and freedoms of the Australian people.

"Anti-bikie laws assumed that clear lines could and should be drawn between a certain criminal class and the rest of society, something that did not reflect Australian life where the lives of people intersected" Click here to read more.
