The NSW Crime Commission has been accused of undermining free speech by demanding records and phones from Fairfax journalists.

The Sydney Morning Herald have claimed the Crime Commission is sharing money with organised crime figures.

Fairfax Media says it has now received a court order on behalf of the Crime Commission demanding all records of communication between any staff member and the PIC over a 12-month period.

The Crime Commission has declined to comment.
