ICAC calls in DPP

Wednesday 23 March 2011 @ 10.50 p.m. | Corporate & Regulatory

The ICAC has found nine people acted corruptly in its public inquiry into Sydney Water.

The New South Wales corruption watchdog is now seeking the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions about possible criminal charges against four former Sydney Water employees who received bribes from contractors.

These included payments for outdoor advertising, which ICAC found was of no real value.

The commission noted that there were "a number of prevailing flaws in the rules, relationships and systems at Sydney Water" and has made 18 corruption prevention recommendations to help prevent similar conduct in the future.
