A mobile phone company is facing court action in the Northern Territory after it was accused of selling phone plans to people without network coverage.

EDirect, also known VIPtel, is a mobile phone telemarketer which has been offering phone contracts to people in the NT.

The company is facing Federal Court action from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

The company and the ACCC will have a hearing later this month about separate allegations brought to court last year.

The ACCC alleges EDirect engaged in misleading and unconscionable conduct.
