With the departure of Attorney-General Nicola Roxon in the last week, the Australian Lawyers Alliance (ALA) has commended her achievements, including but not limited to introducing tobacco plain packaging laws and establishing the Royal Commission into child sex abuse.

ALA president Tony Kerin congratulated Australia’s first female Attorney-General on initiating a series of “firsts” during her 12 months as the Crown’s first law officer.

Nicola Roxon has also been credited with pushing the National Disability Insurance Scheme forwards and Tony Kerin has said, “We are sorry to lose [Roxon] mid stream, but I’m sure we’ll be able to work well with the new Attorney-General to ensure the NDIS comes to fruition."
